Vendor Risk & TPRM Software Comparison

Flow vs SecurityScorecard: vendor risk management

Looking for a SecurityScorecard alternative? Compare security ratings and vendor monitoring with Flow's risk ownership, review tracking, and connected GRC.

By Flow GRC · Reviewed · Sources and methodology

SecurityScorecard helps teams prioritize third-party cyber exposure using portfolios, ratings, findings, questionnaires, and action plans. Flow gives vendor relationships a place in the organization's risk register. For a ratings-led program, replacing the signal source and replacing the internal workflow are separate decisions.

When to consider Flow

Consider Flow when your priority is a vendor inventory connected to your organization's risk register: named owners, business criticality, risk tiers, review dates, and follow-up actions. Your team performs the diligence and makes the decisions.

When to consider SecurityScorecard

Evaluate SecurityScorecard when you need security posture data across a vendor portfolio and a way to engage suppliers on cyber findings. Confirm product and service entitlements for your selected package.

Choose around the work your team needs to do

Separate grades from risk acceptance

An external grade is one input. Your service dependency, data access, and business impact still determine the action your organization should take.

Decide who contacts the vendor

Establish whether your analysts, relationship owners, or a managed service will investigate findings and follow up. Evaluate the workload as well as the software.

Keep decisions connected

Use Flow when the central requirement is documenting internal ownership, treatment, and periodic review alongside the rest of your risk program.

How to evaluate a SecurityScorecard alternative

Use the same real vendor and a recent review in both demos. Record which steps are supported, which require another tool, and who will own the work after rollout.

  1. Validate a score against a known vendor

Review the underlying evidence and company attribution. Ask how disputed observations are corrected and when changes affect the score.

  2. Run a supplier follow-up

Demonstrate the path from a finding to a questionnaire or action plan, including vendor participation and internal approval of the response.

  3. Map subscription and service boundaries

List monitoring, questionnaires, response services, and integrations separately. Confirm prerequisites and the owners of work that remains internal.

Flow vs SecurityScorecard: Common questions

Is Flow a SecurityScorecard alternative for security ratings?

No. Flow does not produce external security ratings. It is an option for managing the internal vendor risk program, including records, risk ownership, review dates, and linked actions.

Are Flow risk tiers the same as security grades?

No. A Flow risk tier is a classification assigned by your team. An external security grade reflects observations and a provider's methodology. They answer different questions and should not be substituted without review.

Can we keep a ratings provider while using Flow?

You can evaluate a process that uses external findings as inputs to your risk decisions in Flow. Validate how information will be transferred; this comparison does not promise a native SecurityScorecard integration.
